This morning we had a go at up cycling silk ties into these beautiful rose brooches. They are going to be sold at a fundraiser on the 6th Feb all in aid of British Heart Foundation.
I Used To Be went back to school last week when we attended a crochet for beginners class at Ellie Magpie in Prestwich, Greater Manchester. During the two hour session run by Caroline we attempted to grasp the basics of crochet to produce a flower and I am pleased to say we did! We have been practicing since we returned using Caroline's instructions and the wonderful 'You Tube' so hopefully we can soon be using up-cycled materials to create unique floral decorations.
With our first post of the new year, we are happy to announce our plan to run a series of crafty workshops in the Greater Manchester area this year. It is something we had planned to do earlier but other work commitments delayed this ambition. So watch this space for more details soon.
What a wonderful day we have had today at Victoria Baths Christmas Craft Fair! We have had so many lovely chats with the visitors who had come along to start their festive shopping whilst exploring the historic venue. Thank you for all the positive comments about our unique up cycled makes.

We are planning to be part of this exciting event and are currently creating a workshop that gets our younger ones to be creative whilst exploring their storytelling abilities. A mini theatre, puppets, and a big dose of imagination are all going into the mix...watch this space.
Above are our latest creations which you can see at Victoria Baths Craft Fair on July 6th. They consist of hearts that were used to decorate a wedding reception, acorn cups foraged from the beautiful Cheshire countryside and a fantastic plaid fabric sourced from a 1970's kipper tie. Unique pieces to decorate your home made from pre- loved materials.
I Used To Be's aim is to use art & craft to positively transform pre-loved objects and materials whilst encouraging sustainability and creativity in all.
